Ganesh Puja in Cuttack 2012. In Cuttack, the old capital of Odisha celebrates Ganesh Puja in a grand way. About 2000 Clubs and Sahi celebrate the festival together.

The people of Cuttack has waited for a year to welcome its much-adored ‘Ganapati Bappa’ today. The idol will be installed in several households amidst special prayers and the ‘pran pratishthapana’ puja on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi .

The celebrations will continue for 11 days. Ganesh Chaturthi is a religious festival observed by Hindus to celebrate the birth of deity Lord Ganesha (the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati).

According to the mythological anecdotes, Lord Ganesha is worshipped as the god of good fortune and prosperity.
